Clinical study: permanent hair removal of light hair

White hair
PROCESS PROVEN BY CLINICAL STUDY

Eurofeedback IPL Pulsed Light devices are unique in the market for removing blond hair and white hair: a worldwide patent was filed in 2005 with WIPO, published in 2007.

To provide proof of the effectiveness of its process, Eurofeedback decided to carry out a clinical study in a French laboratory, DERMSCAN (approved by the French Ministry of Health).

TEST CONDITIONS

Evaluation of the effectiveness of a photopilar care process by emission of light flashes.

PANEL

The test was carried out on 14 healthy volunteers, aged 23 to 76 (mean age: 50), with blond or white hairs . All met specific inclusion and non-inclusion criteria.

EFFECT ON PILAR DENSITY

PRINCIPLE OF MEASUREMENT

A defined area was visualized using a HIROX® high definition video microscope coupled to a computer image acquisition system. On each image produced, the hairs present on the area were counted using Photoshop software.

SUBJECTIVE EVALUATION

At the end of the study, the volunteers completed a subjective evaluation questionnaire to assess the effectiveness of the process and its safety. These criteria give a good indication of the assessment of the process over time.

TEST PROCEDURE

  • Study of variations in the density of dark (brown or chestnut) and light (white or blond) hairs by acquiring images with a Hirox® videomicroscope and counting using Photoshop® software.
  • Analysis of responses given by volunteers to a subjective evaluation questionnaire.

EFFECTIVENESS ON DARK HAIR (BROWN OR CHESTNUT)

After only 4 sessions of photopilaire care, the density of dark hairs decreased by 75% (p = 0.023).

EFFECTIVENESS ON LIGHT HAIR (WHITE OR BLONDE)

After 4 sessions of photopilaire care, the density of light hairs decreased by 36% (p = 0.012) with more precisely a decrease of 51% of white hairs (n = 7) and of 27% of blond hairs (n = 7) from the first session.

Hirox® Images

of the studied area after 4 photopilaire treatment sessions . (The hairs are surface dyed for counting.)

SUBJECTIVE EVALUATION

  • 71% of volunteers gave a score ≥5 on an efficiency scale of 0 to 10.
  • 50% of the volunteers would be ready to use this technique on a larger area.
  • 43% of volunteers noted the absence of unpleasant sensations during the sessions.

conclusion

Under the conditions of this study, the photopilar care process:
  • significantly reduced hair density both on dark hairs (-75% after 4 sessions) and light hairs (-51% white hairs and -27% blond hairs after one session).
  • was appreciated by the volunteers for its efficiency (71%) and the absence of unpleasant sensations during the sessions (43%).
50% of the volunteers would be ready to use it on a larger area.
